NashvilleCon Cosplay Contest Rules

The contest is open to ALL skill levels to ensure both novice and experienced costumers have a chance to shine.

The award categories include:

Following Categories:

Best Male

Best Female

Best Youth

Best Group

In the interest of fairness, and to allow for the best possible competition among peers, NashvilleCon has separate divisions for entrant based on skill and experience. A competitor may always choose to compete in a higher division than that in which they have been placed. He or she may NOT choose to compete in a lower division.

1. One costume per person. No separate entries from the same person.

2. Store-bought costumes are not allowed in Master or Intermediate divisions. The following items are allowed to be store-bought in all categories: wigs, notions, trims, belts, shoes, and jewelry. Other items will be allowed at the discretion of the judges. Remember: this is a competition that focuses on craftsmanship. The more you create, the better your chance to become a finalist.

3. Commissioned costumes (a costume designed and made by an individual or team that is not a commercial company) may be entered if the creator of the costume is in attendance or with proof of the commission.

4. All contestants must fill out the Costume Contest Entry Form. This is a pre-judged competition. Pre-judging will occur on the Saturday of the show.

5. Reference photos or drawings of your character/costume will be considered, but are not necessary. In-progress photos of you making your costume will also be considered, but are also not necessary. The pre-judging is an interview with the costumer about the creation and conception of the costume.

6. No nudity or offensive costumes.

7. No bad behavior. No trash talking, sabotage, or poor sportsmanship. Improper behavior will get you removed from the competition and possibly the convention. Remember, we’re all here to have fun.

  1. 8.The number of entries will be capped at 150.
